Gold is a very popular item to save with because its properties are alway invariable and it has always been used as a currecy. It is in fact the currency standard in many countries. The gold was convertible in the U.S. as confirmed by the Bretton woods Conference of 1946 that placed the convertibility of gold at $35.00 per troy ounce. President Nixon cancelled the Bretton Woods system in 1971 as part of the "Nixon Shock" that also included the Presidentīs trip to Beijin. The total amount of gold mined to date is 158, 000 tons, which amounts to a block of 20.2 meters to eachg side. No really a large amount. Gold keeps its price and has tended to increase during the last few years. Invest in gold!! Good luck.
